I think there mustn't be much of a demand. If the first two dvd sets had sold well then they wouldn't have hesitated to release series 5 & 6. I hope I'm wrong....I want the whole set! Ben , can't see this as being the case as Playback didn't finish releasing ANYTHING. Pretty naff really. Hope that the BBC release the full series via their partnership with 2entertain, like they have with It Ain't Half Hot Mum and Are You Being Served (both of these inferior to Hi-De-Hi in my opinion),I would buy it from Series 5 onwards. But does anyone know if Playback still have the rights to it? I hope not, to be quite honest!

noticed alot of recorded of the tv dvds on a certain auction site of the whole hi de hi , think this shows that a demand is out there if people are paying £6 a series for a "pirate copy"

It's a shame because I would consider buying Hi Di He on pirate too. The demand is definitely there. I would prefer the official release but if the BBC etc aren't bothered then what do they expect people to do?

I have a feeling that Hi-De-Hi (and Allo Allo) will be released via the 2entertain label, as they seem to be churning out the Perry/Croft comedies like there is no tomorrow. We have already had a date for Series 2 of You Rang M'Lord, and as much as I love it Hi-De-Hi was more popular than that. I think that the BBC/2entertain partnership have got the rights to Hi-De-Hi back, hence the newspaper "freebie" The Society Entertainer episode on a BBC/2entertain disc a few weeks back, and that episode is available to buy on the Playback sets.
I know how people feel and was looking at the copies on ebay myself, but will wait a while longer before I do anything that desperate! I think the BBC/2entertain partnership has been a very worthwhile exercise up to press, releasing stuff that probably wouldn't have seen the light of day under the BBC alone, look how often they use to release series a while ago. Porridge and Open All Hours were one series a year, but all that has changed now, so hang in there a while longer folks and see what emerges.
I wish we could contact Carolyn at the BBC, but she doesn't seem to be there these days. I have e-mailed her about 3 times with no response, totally unlike her. The Perry & Croft mailing list seems to have stopped as well. I only find things out by looking on the internet. I hope she is OK, anyone got any news on her?

I had one of her mailing list emails a month or two ago I think. Hope she's ok. And hope you're right with what you say about the chances of Hi De Hi being released.

I emailed bensonsworld to ask what the "off the schedule" meant next to hi de hi series 5 and 6 meant.Heres the reply i received:
Thank you for your email. Off the schedule means that the release date has been changed and that a new date of release has not yet been decided.
so does look like the date will be changed so could be earlier or later.i have emailed Carolyn again to enquire if she had any news and will reply to any answer i receive

I have received a reply from Carolyn. She didn't mention HI-DE-HI by name (even though I asked her about it) but she does say to keep an eye on your inbox for further news of Perry & Croft releases. So it probably is still on the cards.

Seems she has no information on the release of the next dvd then. She didn't reply to me and I asked her directly about Hi De Hi.
