I got the same email too see my post in the other thread. Seems like we aren't going to get any more Hi De Hi for the moment anyway.

I got the E-mail too. At least it means one thing....that people have been contacting her and something positive has come out of it. I think we can thank ourselves for that at least.

Yeah I guess so. The newsletter means the demand is there. Let's hope they get their act together.

I am new to this site, so decided to read back through past comments. I must admit to being really rather shocked by the ungrateful attitude of certain people – especially that of Gary, reply no. 33, sent on 2nd march 2005. I myself have received replies from Carolyn Bartholomew from the BBC and I know many other people who also have. I find her letter and e.mails charming, funny, friendly, and helpful, and I think for you to criticise them is extremely ungrateful and I’m sure hurtful to her. I think many of you underestimate in a big way the work load that she must have – don’t forget, not only does she go out of her way to do things to help hi-di-hi fans, but also for other Perry/Croft comedies such as dads army, you rang my lord, are you being served amongst many others projects I’m sure. As for complaining about the length of time replies took, and saying that you sent several e.mails, and that phrases were repeated in different peoples letters – I think everyone should appreciate that it is one person alone that dealing with all queries – not just your single one, but all of them, from different fans of different programmes. I’m sure if you were in that position, you would be overwhelmed with the work load that faced you. Of course phrases are repeated, it is impossible to answer the same query in 50 different ways. Oh yes and also Gary, if someone asks her about a Hi-Di-Hi box set that is not yet available, it is common sense, to most people anyway, to mention products that are at present available. It is also against forum policies to post personal replies on a public forum without her permission anyway, so in that you are breaking the conditions stated when signing up to this site. I just can’t believe how ungrateful certain people are – at the moment Carolyn has organised signed copies of the new Dads Army and Are You Being Served DVD by cast members, again for the enjoyment of fans, if she does the same for Hi-Di-Hi, I’m sure you will be only too willing to sing her praises then… Instead of criticising the good work of good people, try saying thank you from time to time, and think of the people on the end of your snide remarks.

If I have slagged Carolyn off which I don't think I have, I apologise. She is good with always replying and like you said she must be really busy with all the emails from people over the world. She does find the time to reply and with some humour. I don't think Gary was slagging her off, I can understand his frustration like mine and others with the lack of releases or information. Why release some series and not complete the job? I think Gary was directing his frustration at Playback and not at Carolyn.

i agree,if we print emails direct from carolyn is for the good of the website, the more people that know the better it is.everyone on this site is good humoured and yes we all get frustrated at releases being slow.we dont need bad feeling on this site.cjm and gary have always put sensible and imformative comments on the site, which im truly grateful for.at the end of the day we all basically want the same thing.you have no need to apologise cjm, this country has free speech and all power to you for using it ;D

Thanks for the support. I guess the one reason we are all here is that we love Hi De Hi. We want every episode to be released. What can be wrong in that?

Yes, I too have noticed that the BBC seem to be speeding up with their releases. It would be nice to have a forum for comedy releases in general, anyone agree? We still don't know what is happening with stuff released via Playback though.

Hi guys
Having finally found the password for this thing (I've been browsing as a guest instead for months) I can say I'll be leaving the forums as dedicated to *just* Perry & Croft sitcoms for now. I may change this in the future though.
Meanwhile let's hope they hurry with the Series 5 & 6 DVD!

I have just looked at the Su Pollard site and they have had quite a lot of E-mails regarding series 5 & 6 of Hi-De-Hi, which they say they have forwarded to Carolyn at the BBC, so hopefully this might show them that there is a market for it. I still think that this is an issue down to Playback, as many other programmes (It Aint Half Hot Mum, Are You Being Served) seem to be seeing the light of day, whereas ANYTHING that Playback have released seems to have come to a full stop.

I think there mustn't be much of a demand. If the first two dvd sets had sold well then they wouldn't have hesitated to release series 5 & 6. I hope I'm wrong....I want the whole set!
